Heat Treat Facility

Horsburgh & Scott’s dedicated heat treat facility is a stand-alone 35,000-square-foot center designed for gear carburizing, induction hardening, and through hardening treatments. Offering both captive and commercial services, our facility is equipped to handle gears and shafts ranging from 100 to 50,000 pounds.

With an experienced metallurgical engineering staff, we ensure the highest quality processing for all projects, meeting the exacting standards required for critical applications across a wide range of markets.

Carburizing

Our carburizing service for large gears provides an advanced surface heat treatment. Using state-of-the-art pit carburizing furnaces, we heat iron or steel in a carbon-rich environment to increase your gears’ hardness and strength, ensuring reliable performance even under demanding conditions.

Gear Induction Hardening

Our induction hardening service for large industrial gears enhances durability and wear resistance. Our heat treat facility is equipped with a newly installed CNC induction hardening machine that can treat gears up to 5.0m in diameter and shafts up to 3.0m in length.

Through Hardening

Our through hardening service for large gears, ensures your entire gear, not just the surface, is tough and resilient, providing reliable performance and resistance to wear and deformation in demanding applications.
